Huawei Nova Y90 is a flagship smartphone that deserves to represent the company's mid-range segment. And not only that, the phone is affordable too,
so that is reason enough to get the phone if you are a budget buyer. Meanwhile, there are many things you should know about this new phone, and
we have collected them all in this review. The Huawei Nova Y90 is the latest addition to the company's line of mid-range smartphones. Huawei intends to
expand its affordable mid-range line with the release of this phone which is the direct successor to last year's Huawei Nova Y70. While there are
improvements on the Huawei Nova Y90, the features and specifications are almost at the same level as its predecessor. First of all, we are happy to see a
large screen of 6.7 inches that carries a resolution of 1080 x 2388 pixels and a refresh rate of 90Hz. The performance is handled by the Qualcomm
Snapdragon 680 chipset which is a mid-range processor. Unfortunately, the likes of 5G connectivity and the AMOLED display are some of the things you'll
miss out on if you're planning to buy this phone. Well, these are things you can live comfortably without, so we're sure you won't see it as a problem. However,
there are many mid-range 5G phones in the market, talking about the Motorola Moto G62 5G and the Oppo A57 5G, with the first having a high
refresh rate of 120Hz. Therefore, we expect the Huawei Nova Y90 to come with better specifications than these two phones, but what it offers is still in line with the price.

Huawei Nova Y90
Design
Design
The design of the Huawei Nova Y90 reminds us of the famous "Mate" series of the company. You will find the phone very familiar when you see the camera
system which is similar to that of the Mate 40 and HONOR's Magic3 series of smartphones. We are talking about the circular camera system on the Huawei
Nova Y90 which has a triple camera setup and LED flash. Huawei has designed the camera design to rise slightly from the back surface, even
though the phone has a slim body. This means that the Huawei Nova Y90 will not lie down when it is placed on the table, so the case included in the box will
be very useful, because it helps to prevent the main camera from attracting attention. This is only for the camera system because the back is free from
distortion, thanks to the mate polycarbonate back panel that also provides a light-like finish without feeling uncomfortable. Huawei Nova Y90 has a
fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button on the right side, along with the volume rocker. The latter has a microphone, a USB Type-C port, a
speaker, and a 3.5mm jack. Huawei doesn't include a micro SD card slot, so you won't have the option to expand the phone's storage.

Display
Display
Although the Huawei Nova Y90 is a mid-range phone, it has almost the same display as other premium phones. Starting with a thin top and side bezels that
give the large 6.7-inch screen a screen-to-body ratio of 89.1%. Fortunately, the IPS LCD comes with a 90Hz refresh rate, so the lack of AMOLED won't
hurt much. The display of the Huawei Nova Y90 is nothing special in terms of brightness. Although the color reproduction is great and sharp, thanks to the
highest resolution of 1080 x 2388 pixels. However, the screen is more visible when you are indoors but not so much in the middle of the day.
Camera
In terms of camera, Huawei Nova Y90 can only show with its excellent camera system. Although it features a triple camera setup where there is a 50MP
sensor as the main shooter, the dual sensors are useless as there is nothing to expect from the 2MP sensor. Well, this is still acceptable considering the
budget of the phone. In fact, the 50MP main shooter makes the Huawei Nova Y90's camera performance strong. With a great camera, the phone takes perfect pictures with good colors, brightness, contrast, and dynamic range.
While in low-light conditions, you will struggle to take enough detailed pictures like other budget phones, so the Huawei Nova Y90 should be no different. But
once you take it in good lighting conditions, the photos will look natural and are great for sharing on social media. The lack of OIS or EIS will make the
video output a bit shaky, but the Huawei Nova Y90 still delivers some good photos when you shoot videos with it. The 8MP selfie camera performs
impressively whether you're taking selfies or recording videos. Portrait mode offers some nice background blur when taking selfies.

Performance, Storage, and Software
Performance-wise, Huawei Nova Y90 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset with Adreno 610 GPU for graphics. Looking at this configuration, we
are convinced that the Nova Y90 will have a good performance. The mobile phone works perfectly for everyday use where you browse the internet, play
games, and watch movies. Not surprisingly, multitasking and graphics-intensive games will slow down the phone's performance. You will
hardly find a budget-friendly smartphone that can handle heavy tasks without showing signs of malfunction. Although the cheaper Oppo A57 5G can play
some games like Genshin Impact and Asphalt Nitro perfectly, they work well with this phone but that's on low settings. Huawei Nova Y90 has 8GB of RAM
and 128GB of built-in storage where you will have 110GB of storage to download apps and media files. There is no micro SD card slot, meaning that
the phone's storage cannot be expanded. Meanwhile, Huawei Nova Y90 comes with other storage variants of 6GB / 128GB. Huawei Nova Y90 ships
Android 12 based on EMUI 12. This is not a full Android phone, so it is limited to some Google services. However, the user interface of the phone is easy to
adjust and easy to navigate. You will also have access to some useful apps through the phone's "App Gallery".
Battery Capacity and Charging
5000mAh is the standard battery capacity for any smartphone. However, the Huawei Nova Y90 has the same 5000mAh battery that can last more than two
days if you use the phone on an average basis. From an empty battery, the phone takes an hour or less to charge, thanks to the 40W supercharger.
