The Presidency of Nigeria has issued a statement saying that no state in the country is allowed to purchase automatic weapons to distribute to their security forces.
The Palace's statement also reiterated that no person is allowed to own an AK-47 or any other automatic rifle, saying that they must hand over such guns to the security agencies.
The palace also said that the security forces have been ordered to punish those who refuse to follow this order.
Mallam Garba Shehu, who is the spokesperson of President Muhammadu Buhari, signed this statement.

The leaders of the Nigerian House of Representatives will meet with President Muhammadu Buhari regarding the strike of university teachers under the ASUU union, which they have been doing for about seven months.
